Hello
I have been a user of Sql Server for about 4 years now. At a prior company my team had a database allocated to us that was located on an enterprise production server. We basically used that space for data marts and other development activities centered around analysis and reporting. The tools we used were: SSMS, SSRS, and SSIS.
Anyway, I have since shifted to a new company which does not really use Sql Server. The department I am in relies heavily on extracting data from enterprise apps, putting it in Access and then reporting etc. I would like to centralize everything by implementing Sql Server and creating a data mart (and reporting off that) but am not really sure how to do so in terms of version, space requirements etc. I don't know much about the whole DBA side of things.
Would I want Developer edition? We would have 2 people developing/managing the data.
Where would I put the "Sql Server"? Would I need to buy a seperate machine for that?
Thank you!
